Re: Anyone Care For a Civic Survey?

mine is a 99 Civic DX,5 speed
243K
Tech Walmart oil,every 3-4K changed
Mountain driving
I run the crap out of it,don`t abuse, but I rev to the red line a couple times a week,to pass trucks, and have slowed some since gas hit $3.I ran it for 3yrs off road 10 miles a day in the mud,and have dented up floor boards dragging in rocks&mud, and go places to bowhunt I shouldn`t.
At 196K,new piston rings&head job(head gasked blew,needed timing belt,so I did rings,turned out good)(Honda parts)
Problems with front wheel bearings, about 5 new bearings, and have some tranny bearing noise, that dosen`t seem to getting worse,I guess to be expected with high milage .I still have original clutch,CV joints, struts, tie rod ends, and fuel filter.
I use Seafoam part in breather, rest in gas,2 times a year

Re: Anyone Care For a Civic Survey?

1. 2000 Civic Si
2. About 138,5xx
3. Started with Mobil 1, recently switched to Valvoline Max Life Syn Blend for cost reasons.
4. I'm in between, but a majority is spent on the highway and backroads between maybe 45-70 mph. I do get on it once in a while though just to put a grin on my face.
5. I drive pretty calmly. I'm not an aggressive driver by any means.
6. Major repairs. Um. I replaced my fuel filter with an aftermarket one and now the car won't start, so I need to check into that. Ran for a week. I hope it isn't my fuel pump. We'll find out tonight I guess. I also replaced my CV Axles and sway bar end links, and outer tie rod ends. Other than that, nothing out of regular maintenance.
7. Besides the extra stuff I've replaced, nothing.
8. Only additives I've used are gas line antifreeze and fuel system cleaner.

6. Have the entire front end off a 99 Si. Car was wrecked within a year of being made and had the front end rebuilt.
7. I have the worst exhaust ever and big dent in the rear quarter panel i got by leaning on the car....
8. Fuel injector cleaner

Not sure I did this right, trying to reply to you,but I think head gaskets, and minor oil burning is standard for these after 100K

Re: Anyone Care For a Civic Survey?

1. 02 EX coupe manual
2. 87k miles
3. Mobil1 last time, usually 4-6k miles
4. short drives last year, mix city/highway when back to US, autoX regularly when in US, track days twice a year?
5. old man, but drive 70% of capabilities of car in streets (never above it) and race it on track and autoX..
6. rebuilt trans, axles replaced, SRS siemens module replaced, both front LCA's.
7. Need a more powerful engine
8. No

Mods:
Eibach pro springs
KYB AGX dampers
Progress rear sway bar
Skunk2 rear camber kit
front ingall camber bolt (soon to be top camber plates)
(lack of the last 3 are the ones that killed my trans and axles - too much understeer and wheel spin on cornering - potentially killed the engine mounts and the LAC compliance bushings as well - LCA were cracked - potentially same reason? always get camber kits, gents.) The lat 3 did correct behaviour and now counter-steer in corners.
Front neuspeed strut bars - good for a better feel of the steering - no performance gains.
Muffler - just got it so the pipes don't hit the meaty rear sway bar
AEM CAI - just sucks water when rain season comes... HP gains?!? bwaaahahaha!
Dumb projector headlights, but still better than the stock beaten ones. DRL to pass canada inspections wired to the halos - will disconnect when get back to US.

Graphite in the door locks everytime it starts to freeze.
Blushing of the door power locks everytime the snow that melted in the door (have to pass the badge in the gate when leaving work, right?) seeps in and freeze the power lock, so nothing opens. (darn!)
