Anyone else an OEM junky against lowering?

I see the appeal in lowering a vehicle and using certain modifications that improve tight cuts and other handling features. I even understand some engine modification projects. However I must say I'm just an average dude that likes to fix cars. In fact I feel like most people who do a lot of these modifications themselves do it just for the satisfaction of creating something with their minds and their hands that works. I just feel like taking an economic approach to car work. I want to fix a problem and know the fix will last. Upgrades like creating a tighter suspension wear out parts, though this may be your thing if you love those curves, I just want to get from place a to place b and know that it wouldn't happen if it weren't for me and my repairmenship.

On another note. I would like to know who out there would rather work on their bud's vehicle rather than their own. I find this more enjoyable because when it comes to my own car I am a perfectionist, but with someone else, I just fix what they need and forget about the rear defroster bars that are missing :-)

Re: Anyone else an OEM junky against lowering?

The only time I've been against lowering was when I got stuck behind someone in a school parking lot trying to tip toe over every speed bump for a quarter mile! What a joke. I couldn't help but taunt them by sitting way back and catching up just as they got over each mountainous peak. The driver couldn't handle the reality of it and slammed his brakes on after getting a couple of wedgies. Otherwise it doesn't bother me.

I have a 2000 Si slammed to the ground and I couldn't even get it on a trailer we had to jack the front end of the trailer up to lower the back end to get it off and on.. But it has adjustable coils so I lifted it back up as much as possible to even be able to get in my drive way.. That's kinda a joke when you can't even put an aftermarket body kit on your car cuz it already sits too low. Don't even really like the feeling of the turning

theres nothing wrong with lowering so long as you realize a bunch of other parts need to be upgraded along with the springs.

Re: Anyone else an OEM junky against lowering?

I went more for the stiffness than the lowering, actually. coilovers would have been better choice, but did not know them at the time. Just an inch or less on eibachs, but much better in firmness if matched struts and shocks. (not so good, though, AGX do not have the settings i need in the rears, too soft or too stiff).
You say lowering, i say stiffness.
Slammed is a whole different dimension and i really am not in it. messes with the car balance and usefulness.
