Automatic or 5 speed 99-2000 civic

Hi all I am new to this site. I am interested in buying a 99-2000 honda civic sedan. However I am torn between getting one with an automatic transmission or a 5 speed. I realize that the car will most likely have between 75K-100K miles already. I know its not a new car but I know these cars go forever and are a blast to drive. I see lots of issues with auto trannies. Some people say its a yearly tranny fluid change and a solenoid and some say its a big $ project in a tranny shop. I do not see any issues with 5 speed trannies other than a $300.00 clutch which is far cheaper that a $2000.00 tranny. So is the automatic tranny a known issue? thank you for any advice.

stick with manual, much less problem even if it breaks.
