What kind of Civic?
I'm looking for a civic to buy, but I don't know which type is the best. I like the body styles from before 2000, so I think i need to know which is best out of LX,EX,DX, etc.>> (I don't know what other kinds there are)<< help me out.
Re: What kind of Civic?
Yeah, i found that those are generally more rare and relatively and kinda significantly more expensive... So, as far as the ex, dx, lx, and any others that i havent seen, what's the best?
Re: What kind of Civic?
dx - no air or am/fm radio or cd player
lx- single disc cd player cloths int.
ex - 6 disc cd cloth seats sun roof
ex-l - 6 disc cd leather seats sun roof
si -(sedan & coupe) sport injection 197 horse manual only si interior some come with navi
where are you from?

Re: What kind of Civic?
Basically if you're looking for a reason to get the lower end model like I did, I couldn't justify paying extra for things I would change:
- bigger wheels = changed
- CD player = changed
- suspension = changed
Other things I can't remember.
Re: What kind of Civic?
This is only for the 8th generation with the K series engine. If he's looking for anything pre-2006, it's going to be more like 127 horsepower in the Si. It also depends on which country he's in because the models are different.

I agree with this if you're going to change a lot of the stock features you might as well get the base model (lx) i wouldnt recomend dx at all but other then that if you're going to modify it get the base model
Re: What kind of Civic?
dont call me bro im a girl : ) lol as far as the moter i would say the only difference would be in an si other then that youre looking pretty much at the same thing. well good luck finding a car : )
Re: What kind of Civic?
Si before 2000 models are usually beated up pretty bad, really hard to find decent Si before 2000.
Go with EX V-Tech, if not go with LX Sohc. Try to avoid DX, and I never had experiece with HX so cannot really comment on that.

Re: What kind of Civic?
Not sure if you got your answer yet but here is what i found:
for 6th gen civics(1996-2000)
cx,dx,lx models use D16Y7 motor with 106 hp and 103 ft-lb torque
ex(or canda's si uses vtec others besides the si don't) uses D16Y8 motor with 127 hp and 102 ft-lb torque
si uses B16A2(DOHC) motor with 158 hp and 111 ft-lb torque
all this information i got from wikipedia if its incorrect feel free to correct me

Re: What kind of Civic?
The Canadian LX also uses the D16Y8 with VTEC. Not sure if it's single or dual camshafts (not sure how they do SOHC VTEC) but it's available. There's also the Canadian SiR which is our top Civic, equal to the USA Si.
