Car audio system cuts off in car but subs still work

Yeah lately when I am listening to my radio or iPod in the car all the audio cuts out but the subs still play. I believe its the head unit because once in a blue moon the head unit shuts off while driving. Any ideas?

Are you running the stock speakers?

You have a loose power or ground on your head unit, if the amp for sub doesnt shut down, means your still getting power to the amp. Which also means, it's not your battery.

I would find out ASAP, if you have a loose power wire flying around your dash, not very safe.

Does the deck stay on and the speakers quit?
Sounds like it if the sub is still working.
Sounds like the deck is going into protect mode.
You most likely have a loose connection or a
short to ground.
Did you just install?
Did you solder all connections?

When it happens turn your decks fader all the way
to the rear and turn off deck.
Turn back on and see if it plays, if not
put fader to front.
Turn off/on and see if it works
I was able to isolate what speaker had the issue.
My ground was real loose so i sqeezed with pliers and soldered
all of my spade connectors to my speakers.
No more cut out.
