custom amp box
i am thinking of doing an amp box with neon an such with a fiberglass top. has anyone done this yet? how do you do it? i want it to be level with the floor of my trunk. i also want a cover for it so it is not visible at all times. hwo would i do this? thanks for the help.
do a search, I wrote a very complete DIY in another topic whom asked a very similar question.
maybe try searching for false floor, thats where id start. but it was rather recently, so it should be somewhere in teh first dozen pages or so of past threads....

here's a diy: http://members.tripod.com/auto_motio...ustomtrunk.htm
alright, chec it out. here is a basic idea of what you do next. rather than cut the baffle into the shape of yoru trunk floor, make it square, so you cna just barely fit your subwoofers and amplifier on teh board, together. then, border it all round by 1x3's or 2x4's, whatever. THEN build a floor shaped cover that will rest on TOP of the frame you built.
cut a hole in the center, a few inches smaller on all sides than yoru square frame. throw on a couple wood nubs on either side. then cut a piece of square mfd that fits that size, and cut a bunch of slots in that.
carpet teh floor, and use grill cloth on the center piece. you can tack on a little loop of cloth on the bottom so you cna pull up the center square.
done! fully covered false floor. the DIY is far far more complete, but add some creativity to this short explanation here, youve got more than you need to do it!

with that DIY custom sub trunk, has anyone put the subs "left to right" instead "top and bottom" of each other? or would they not it that way?
the DIY thats on this forum is actually the first tiem ive seen it top and bottom style, the rest has always been left to right.
the main limiting factor left to right is whether the magnets will clear the spare tire well. if they do, its much better looking IMO to have a pair of woofers side by side "on top" and the amplifier "on bottom"
