Ported to Closed Box??

Hey everyone, im fixing to switch from a ported sub box to a closed sub box. I currently have one JL Audio 12w3 w/ an Alpine M300. What settings on my amplifier will I probably have to change to get the best sound from a closed box?

I have two kickers on a 1400watt amp. The subs are dvc 2ohms, I got the coils connected in series. Total 4ohms per sub connected to my amp. the amp is 310wattsx2@4ohms. It sounds good. If I put my rear seat down the bass is more noticeable. Also try to mess with the frequency **** on the amp. I have the subs facing the back of my car. I think it sounds better then any other combination i tried.

I need a closed box because my ported box that I built is huge and I need more trunk space since im going of to college and all. I don't really care about my sub hitting hard, it will still sound good in a closed enclosure.

if your amp has a "subsonic" filter, you'll prolly want to turn that OFF. Ported boxes frequency response below its tuning freq is normally a violent curve. The sealed box, on the other hand, just acts as a high pas filter and the freq response rolls off. You don't want your amp to increase this rolloff otherwsie you'll have terrible low ends (which are my favorite part). Drivers in sealed boxes, typically, can handle more power since they are loaded down more by the sealed enclousure. It will be quiter but the freq response wil be flatter. But it sounds like this is not so important to you.

goodluck

hey we have the same subs and amps lol sweet
anyways, i have mine in a sealed box and I have the subsonc filter ON and it's set at 15 Hz.. the low pass is ON and is set at 80 Hz.. Parametric is on and is set at 80 Hz as well.. the turn on delay is off and the "gain" (if you wanna call it that because our amps dont really have an official gain) is set at -3dB.. anyways, both my M300s are set at that and I usually hit around 141 dB.. so it's not really that loud but it's not that quiet either.. But those are just my preferences on how I like it to sound..
