Bored today...made speaker plates
Yeah...bored...
So I took the rear of the inside apart and made some speaker plates for the 6.5s I had jerry-rigged in there. I had them hanging with a plastic adapter that was actually made for the front speakers. They were sent by mistake when I got two pairs of the 6.5s. So I went through all the pain and suffering of getting to the rears and made a plate for them. I found some metal in the workshop from an old computer case that I had dremeled the mobo mounting out of. I still had the top and side panel, so I dug out the old oem 6x9, used it for a template, and cut the suckers out. After cutting the center hole for the speaker cage and drilling a few holes for mounting, it was finally finished. They ain't real pretty, but you're not gonna see them anyway. With a sub in the trunk, the rears aren't that important anyway, so 6.5" speakers are fine. I took a BUNCH of pics when I took everything out, so I'll probably add a page to my site for a rear speaker install. I did a post a long time ago on it and I'll use part of that as well.
I've also posted a pic of how crappy the original 6x9s are. Typical for oem, full-range paper with a tiny magnet and no bass.
