wont do a damn thing. Alpines have notoriously bad radio reception. I have the same problems with mine.....your options are 1. new HU, 2. XM, 3. listen to CD's.

Huh, i dont really have any problems with my alpine's radio reception. Are you sure the power antenna lead is connected? Our cars do have an antenna booster in the car already that does require power.

It all depends on how far you are from the station. The local stations come in fine for me, but anything over say 40 miles is horrible....it came in fine with my stock radio. ANother thing that plays a part is if you ran power down the passenger side of the car.....it can interfere with the antenna cable.

I have great reception with my Alpine CDA-7893. This is what I think you should do. Check the antenna wire that plugs into the back of the HU and make sure it is in tightly. Also, that same antenna wire runs all the way through the dash and under the glove box. You may want to check to see if that connection is tight. It is right up under there by the kick panel right up under the glove box. Look for that black wire and make sure it is plugged in. I accidentaly pulled it out when I was installing my speakers, so just thought that could be causing your problem.

I have had some problems with reception...some tips that I have learned:

-if you are using a device that runs near the HU, like the defroster, this can cloud reception (actually the back window defroster may cause bad reception because it is on the back window with the antenna).

-Driving on a crowded freeway, like the 405, can cause bad reception with big trucks nearby.

-Make sure the radio antenna is connected at all points: behind radio, in kick, and at back window.

Just some ideas
