I need you alls help, for the past couple of days, my JL Audio 12w3 has been acting weird. First off, this all started when one of the negative wires came loose from the terminal on my sub. I had to solder it back on. The thing is that I got solder on too much of the wire and it really stiffened it up, therefore making the wire hit the cone when my sub was playing and made a terrible vibrating noise. So the other day, my sub cuts off, and a little later that day, it comes back on. My amp seems to be fine so I assume its the sub. The next day the same thing happens, my sub cuts on and off all day, but in long intervals. Right when it cuts off again, I take the sub out of the box and discover that that negative wire that was soldered had come loose again due to the vibrating against the cone. I don't know how my sub started playing when this wire was probably disconnected. But anyway, the magnet was extremely hot when I took it out of the box. The magnet was just as hot as when I blew out my JL XR mids. So I re-solder the wire back onto the back of the terminal and somehow managed not to get the wire to rattle on the cone. But now when I turn up the volume all the way, my 12w3 doesn't seem to hit as hard. Is it possible for the voicecoil to get damaged by what I described, but still be operable? I would really appreciate you alls help!
