EQ suggestions...
i used to have an EQ, but after i bought my clarion dxz835mp, i ditched the EQ (it was a 5 band clarion). the only reason i had that EQ was to boost output voltage (old HU gave out 2 volts or something, EQ spit out 7 volts, and new HU does 4 volts).
well now, i want an EQ again. i want one of those non-in-dash units, something i can put in the trunk or under my seat. i was wanting one that will help me tweak the sound coming out of my HEX components, i really dont need to make adjustments to the sub, it sounds fine the way it is.
i'm looking for something that wont be a pain to adjust (no need for 40 bands of equalization), maybe 9 or 13 bands or so, what do you suggest? something under $250 (the cheaper the better)

clarion makes a dsp unit that plugs into the hu and lets you control a big ol high quality eq from the HU. you basically plug the CENET cable from the dsp to the HU, then plug the rca's directly into the dsp. i believe onlinecarstereo.com sells it

thanks for reminding me about the cenet controlled clarion units Ludlum, that would be really cool to have hide away unit that can be controlled with the HU.
and i forgot to mention this, i buy all authorized stuff, and the shop i predominantly buy from can get me clarion, audio control, and phoenix gold (i heard they also make EQ's and stuff like that). any, not-so-expensive audiocontrol or PG units anyone suggests?
and what is this parametric talk, what does that mean?

its not really parametric control that is key, but if its got parametric eq in there, more likely it will have q control which is what makes it key. the q control lets you control teh shape of the equilization curves, so if, say, yoru box isnt tuned right, or the wrong space, or has wierd resonances, you cna electronically phase them out using the equilizer.
a regular no parametric EQ with no Q will merely let you adjust individual levels of certain passbands of frequencies.
big difference in tunability

i saw the clarion EQ's that ludlam listed at my local shop, they really didn't offer me what i wanted, seems like my HU does most of what that will (minus DSP effects which i dont want).
but the one i do want, audiocontrol eqs found here: http://www.audiocontrol.com/MobileAu...izers/EQS.html
doesn't seem to have parametric control.
car audio is so confusing at times, cause now that i really look at EQ's, it makes me think, "do i really want one?".
let me ask this, do any of you guys like EQ's and would you use one in your system? why or why not?

heck, let me know what you guys are thinking of getting, i can let you know in a week how it is
its down to either audiocontrol, or maybe a phoenix gold EQ, but i'l leaning more toward audiocontrol, the EQS to be specific.

The audiocontrol DQT is an amazingly badass piece, digital 31 band parametric EQ course it's 600 bucks but who's counting... However, the audiocontrol EQS is also a very nice 30 band stereo EQ, I think it's around 2-300. That's the one I was planning on getting until I heard about the DQT.
I have a passive Pyramid GN779 with GOOSENECK Computerized Graphic Equalizer w/4 Memory Presets. It's a 7 band, 2 selectable audio inputs (2R/2L RCA) and 6 sets output (2F/2R/2sub).
I am letting it go for $80 shipped via UPS and tracking number emailed to you. Paypal only. Email me at civic01pilot@hotmail.com
