Need help, got probs with system

I got a RF 700s powering 2 audiobahn 12's and another Rockford Fosgate amp powering my midrange speakers. . . over the weekend I had them playing for like 6 hours or something like that and they got really hot. I opened the trunk for like 20 minutes and then kept driving until I got to my house like 20 minutes later. . . ok here's the problem

about 10 minutes before I got to my house the subs suddenly cut off, but my midrange kept playing. I turned off the whole system and tried 2 fix it when i got home.

I had another amp laying around and borrowed a friends subs to test my amp and subs to see if either are messed up . . . and they're not.

Now when I start my car the subs will play for like a minute, literally, and then cut off. The midrange plays fine though and no fuses are blown. I think I just have a short in the wiring but I dunno. . . does anyone have any other ideas before I rip apart the car and rewire everything? I don't really have a whole lotta time so I'm looking for ideas about what happened or if anyone has any ideas as to where the short in the wiring could be. THANX !!!

Check the fuses, but you may have burnt out your amp. Maybe someone else has news.

Sorry man.

Try re-grounding. Havok2k1 had a similar problem with his rockford amp, it would play for a little while, then shut off. Most likely it is a bad ground and you are forcing the amp into protection. Just re-strip all your wires going into the amp, make sure no bare wire is visible, you want the rubber sleeve on the wire to be all the way up to the block where you screw the wire in.

Then re ground it. If that doesnt help, take your amp someplace and have it tested; I think it's just a bad ground though...if the amp was bad it would probably be blowing fuses.

I already had the amp checked out and I know it's not the amp . . . I'll reground everything this afternoon and hopefully it's corrects itself. That's what I thought at first but I know there's people with a lot more know how when it comes 2 car audio on here so I figured I'd ask. . . I'll let ya know what happens.

Make sure all of your connections are tight becuase mine came loose before and the amp would turn on and off randomly and it drove me nuts..

I have a friend who that happened to. He has his system on for hours and hours and hours a day. Not all that loud, but its a fosgate amp. a 150s i think or something of that smallness. One day the amp overheated, since then it just overheats after like half an hour

Well today I didn't have time to check my grounds, but when i was on the freeway like 20 minutes after I had initially took off . . . my amp randomly decided to start playing my subs for like a minute, then it turned off, turned back on for 10 seconds and then stayed off for the rest of the trip. AAAGGGGHHHHHHH !!!!! I hate riding without bass !!!!

And it's not overheated when it turns off, cuz' i have pulled over a few times to check it and it's really cool still.
