Which New Component Set???
Hey everyone, I have been posting that my JL Audio XR mids were ruined do to the fact that water got into them. Well, to get a new set of just the mids will be quite expensive, since they have to be ordered specially from JL Audio. Im was told around $150-200. If they are that expensive, then I might as well buy a new component set. The thing is that I don't have alot of money and I don't need something top of the line like the JL XR speakers. I was thinking about the MB Quart DSD216 6.5" component set. It can't support as much power, only 120W @ 4Ohms, my JLs were 150w @ 4Ohms. Do you all think I will hear that big of a difference in sound quality? Keep in mind I don't have alot of money, which one do you all think would be the best choice?

Well the DSDs are not in the same league as the XRs...The Quart PSDs are of a similiar quality level and price online.
I beleive that both the XRs and the PSDs were developed by the same renowned German speaker designer, Kurt Mueller...but they are two very different speakers...in simple terms the XRs have a better low end, and the quarts have more detailed and realistic sounding highs IMO. Many will say that the PSDs are harsh, but they are prolly people who have heard the PSCs, and not the PSDs. This is my opinion from hearing both installed in Civics.

but the psd's still have no midbass ;D
back to the subject. Honestly, for a low price I would go with kappa's. the problem is you have too much power for any low end speaker. jump your price up to the 200ish range and look into some focal polykevlars or focal polyglass speakers. not RATED for that high but they can take it day and night.
