So, I'm thinking of upgrading from my current Eclipse deck (5303R, no internal amp, 5v preamp outputs) to one of the new ones that plays MP3s. Unfortunately, Eclipse seems to have decided to only include MP3 decoding in the lower end models, if you want to decode MP3s on the higher end models you have to buy the stupid Commander Advance. That's besides the point though!

My question is, the deck I'm thinking of getting has 2.7v (300ohms) preamp outputs, my current one is 5v (100 ohms), will I notice much difference in the sound quality? I know I'll have to fiddle with my gains again. And it seems that all Decks except for the highest model has an internal amp with speaker outs.

you wont notice a difference. just reset the gains. the new eclipse decks are really funky, not sure if i like them, i like the plain semi stock look

Yeah, I called up an Eclipse dealer, they said that with the amp I have, I'll have no loss in sound quality.

As for how the new Eclipse decks look... I don't like how they look either! Everyone else seems to like the new look, I don't dig it at all... that's why I'm still debating on whether or not I should get the 3413 or not.

I wish they'd include mp3 decoding on ALL their decks and not make you shell out extra $$$ for the higher end units. I couldn't care less about voice control. Are you listening ECLIPSE?! =)
