my review of the new code alarm tw-1 alarm system
We just recived the tw-1 from code alarm on sunday. I decided to purchase one considering I didn't wanna wait for the 880xp because for my company it's a special order piece. I know first off everyone is going to say that code alarm sucks and a couple years ago that was the case. But the new product they have is really nice. now for the review:
first off.. the unit comes standard with rem start, keyless entry and full alarm plus anti car jacking. You have 2 extra channels for windows or sunroof and trunk. You get one 2-way remote and a basic dummy remote. The actual size of the brain is a little big compared to the dei product but extremely nice because all the relays are built in so you don't have to worry about a 4 piece relay pack. They still use the same old school code alarm siren but i opted for the dei 514n mini revenger siren. You can get very creative with this particular unit because of all the extra features and you can program the buttons on the remote to your liking not the set transmitter buttons like dei. On the antenna you have a couple of things built in.. first a temp gauge.. if the temp in the car drops below a specific temp the car will automatically start and run for 5 to 10 mins depending on what you want. you can also set it to start at a specific time in the day like 730am. whichever you want. next it has a call button built into the antenna in case you leave a friend in the car or you child wants to stay in the car and they need you all they have to do is press the call button and the 2-way rem will beep and vibrate to let you know you are needed in the car.If your alarm ever goes off it will page you to let you know it is. It will also tell you if there is a trigger left open like door or trunk.
Installation:
Installation was a little challenging for a couple of reasons. one I have never done one till now, and two I think they use to many wires close to the same color.. it's very easy to get confused. The installation manual is very easy to read and understand with the excpetion of programming your customers features. It takes awhile to sort all that stuff out especially on a new product. The install manual is laid out very well and easy to comprehend as well.
Programming took a while to do because there are so many different menus but thanks to a very well laid out manual even the beginner installer would be able to install one without a few hitches.
Use:
Using the 2-way takes some getting used to but in a few mins you'll be a pro at it. My favorite feature is the fact that it gets close to 2 miles of range which is rediculous. On the 2way yuo get conformation your car was started or alarm went off which door or hood is open. You also get a blue backlight display to make seeing the dispaly a lot better. Overall this is an awesome alarm and I like it better than any dei product I've installed. It gives you a lot of features for the money and you will get your money;s wrth. it's worth to it to check it out,
