Its been over a month and a half now since I fatmatted my entire car and I guess that I don't notice the smell that much anymore, but when other people get in the car they say its horrible. In the directions it says the smell goes away after a couple weeks. Their website says it doesnt smell at all. Anyone else have a lingering smell in the car after installing fatmat?

A lot of people have complained about it. Smells like cement or something like that, right? Try using febreze on your seats and getting an air freshener.

yeah it has a tar/asphalt smell. So hopefully it will go away soon then. I'm just worried about when summertime rolls around and the suns beats on the car, I'm hoping that the smell doesnt resurface.

mine went away in like 4 days, i have 3 layers all throughout the trunk and 3 layers in the doors, there was no trace of it after a full week...even in the summer heat.

my fatmats been in for about a month now. I noticed the smell for a few days, nobody else has ever even mentioned it before, it's been hot as hel out now since it's summertime and still nobody has said anything. Of course maybe it's because i'm a little wierd and i like the smell of asphalt, or maybe i have other smells in my car. My civic is over a yr old so the new car smell has disappeared. If i had installed fatmat the day after i got my car and the smell outsmelled my new car odor maybe i'd be saying something differently.

when ppl complain about the asphalt smell, just tell them "it's new car smell" and it'll smell good all of a sudden
