Ported generally creates a deeper sound and would allow the sub to require less power for higher output. however port noise tends to be a problem. Sealed generally has a tighter feel to it, however, takes more power to make it louder. Also RMS figures on sealed are lower than that of ported. Also this is just generally how subs in certain types of enclosures react. Not necessarily how your's would actually react. Hope this helps. If at all possible visit a pro-car audio shop and ask them.

Like dude said ported will give you a louder output and sealed a much cleaner and tighter bass. Now are you talking about Power or Punch HX2's? My shop just did a box for Power's and we built a vented box off of a PPI amp (sorry can't remember the model #) This was in a Caprice wagon and this **** hit hard I was really impress. How much room do you have? If you want I can get you the plans, for a price. Just playin', let me know if you want them.

sexcivic2k1, I had to delete your "response" because all you did was quote someone about 35 times....

As far as a box design, check the RF Tech section of www.rockfordfosgate.com. It should have box specifications and wiring diagrams for you.

Rockford reccomends 1.25 cubic feet sealed or 2.0 cubic feet ported with a 4 inch port, 11 inches long. This tunes it to 35hz. All these numbers are final box volume so be sure to add airspace for port and speaker displacement.
