No sound from system (sometimes)

How come sometimes I get absolutly no sound from my speakers. I have a Pioneer DEH P740MP HU and pioneer front speakers. Sometimes when I start the car i get no sound at all. The HU display works and the CD plays. But there is no sound. The weird part is it doesnt always happen. Sometimes it works fine.

For example, it didnt work tuesday evening but it worked wednesday and thursday. But today it stopped working on my way home.

Thanks

Sounds like loose wires? If you have an amp check grounds, remote turn on, RCA's and speaker wiring. If you have the speakers running off the HU, take the center trim peice out, and make sure your wires in the harness are hooked up correctly, and are not loose. If you did it yourself, make sure you used crimp on vibration-proof butt-connectors in red color (red corresponds to the size of the connector) and not those stupid twisty orange things that are used for home electricals. Even if you didnt do it yourself, check that anyway.

Also, you do have your volume turned up, correct? It could also be a fuse...check that out. If all those are OK, come back, someone should have an idea, and if you cant figure it out, take it somewhere. Shouldent cost more than $50 to check out and fix. And if someone else (a shop) installed it for you, take it back and make them fix it.

Edit: Damn WR beat me to the loose wire comment...oh well, my advice still stands.
