Component speakers?

Hey guys, i was lookin to buy a set of components. All of the 5.25 and 6.5 sets i have looked at are almost all over 2" in mounting depth...I am likin the MB Quarts, but i can't find their specs at ike-sound or their site. Should i go with the built in crossovers, wut series? I have a 4 channel 75x4(4ohms) RF Punch amp for em.

get a set of JL Audio XR component speakers. The depth is 2.81, but all you need to get to fix that is a 1" spacer. Or you could go a step down and get the JL Audio VR component set.

Depending on what line of speakers you get the quarts are definetly better. I have a set of Rockford 6.5" components (brand new in box) for sale. I used to have a set of them in my Civic. They fit fine with a .5" spacer (which Im pretty sure I have still and I'll give that to you too) and sounded pretty nice. $125 US if you want them E-Mail me dgregory@toad.net

get the premium (PSD) line. That's where they step up to the Wet powder coated cones. We put a set of those in an M3 at my shop today... sounded VERY nice.

I have 'em and they sound very nice, but are difficult to install. Good speakers though IMO.

Don't take anyone here's opinion on what is better. Define better. Noone can. Quart's are known to have harsher tweeters, and JL's are really flat and smooth sounding. Quarts lack midbass unless you get their highest set. Quarts will prolly be louder.
As to the difference between 5.25 and 6.5, you might get an increased low end response, higher power handling, and louder sound with a bigger speaker

I personally like the JL XR's better than any of the Quarts series. The MB quarts are vert detailed, but have harsh highs and lack mid bass.

I have owned MB Quart, JL Audio, Alpine, Polk Audio, Rockford Fosgate, pretty much most of the stuff on the market. I do want to pick up a some Audiobahn stuff HEARD LOTS OF GREAT STUFF, Try that line maybe. Really anything you go with as long as you have heard of it should be fine. just make sure you match up the power rating from the subs and the amp (important) i have blown so many subs... i love the warrenty option... hehehehe the advice i will give you is to have fun and don't get all stressed out about the process .....

good luck .......

i think i have heard of Focal, but I am not sure

I would go with JL VR's or MB Quart Q's right now
Polk also makes a kick *** set, not sure what the model series # is at the

i have to chime in here, diamond audio M6 or HEX components. M6 comps come with an aluminum tweet, HEX come with aluminum and silk ( your choice ). i also liked the JL XR series speakers, and even there lower line stuff is pretty good ( a little pricey though ).
i heard the focal polyglass ( lower line stuff? ) and i was unimpressed, my old diamond audio M3 comps were better sounding imo, and cheaper to.
find a place that has them on display, and listen to the speakers, thats the only way to tell if YOU like the sound or not.

mb quarts distort when they're turned up loud under a lot of power. im gettin rid of my coaxials cause they cant handle the power. movin to kevlar cone comps by pioneer. they take a beatin and put out loud clear sound, highs arent as good as the quarts, but not as harsh either. i think its the tc-160 comps by pioneer. had to put a 1" spacer in there though
