Alpine HU Problem........
Hey everyone, just recently I have been having problems with my alpine CDA-7893 HU. Generally it works most of the time, but other times that im listening to music and lest say I need to skip, fastforwad, or change a cd, the buttons cut out and don't work. Sometimes I have to press that button several times to get it to work, or I have to take off the faceplate totally and put it back on to make it work. Just today when I was messing around with the tilt feature, it got stuck when it was tilted all the way up and the button wouldn't respond, so I had to take off the faceplate and put it back on to get the angle right. I just got back from a drive and it seemed to work fine, fast forwarded, skiped, etc just fine, but I know that this problem with the buttons cutting out will happen again. Is my HU going bad or what?
I have the same HU, and I just sent it out last friday with the exact same problem....the button lights flickered, and they didnt work. According to Audiolink, it's a problem with the acutator in the volume **** or something....it's covered under warranty if the HU is under a year old....bring it to wherever you bought it and they should send it out for you. If you bought off the web or something, and therefor dont have a warranty, you can obtain a new faceplate from Alpine for like $150........
did you call alpine directly man? I don't know about stereos, but @ my work whenever anything goes bad I call the company directly, and they ship me out a replacement... being IBM, canon, xerox, epson, hp... I've done it with all of those; All you have to do is give them the serial number and they'll go by the manufacturer's date. I don't know about stereos though.. try it...
