well i just finished my ice install and wanna put an alarm in. what is everyone using and how do you like it? Did you install it yourself, and if you did, would you do it again? If you got it professionally installed, how much was it?

i found the avital 3300 on ebay for $100. i was goin to buy it, but then i got quoted 270 to install it. theres no way i was going to pay almost three times the cost of the alarm just to get it installed.

I have a Viper 790xv alarm/remote start and i like it a lot. I like that it notifies me if my alarm goes off and if my car got the signal to remote start. Im an installer, so I installed it myself. I definitly wouldnt recommend anybody trying to install it themselves if they weren't SURE of what they were doing. Maybe a basic alarm wouldnt be so bad for a novice, but a combo would probably be overwhelming. We usually charge about $100 for either an alarm or a remote start or $160 for a combo unit. Thats basic install only - just doorlocks, door triggers, parking light flash, and starter kill. Things like domelight supervision, trunk release, transponder bypasses (for remote starts) cost extra. Only complaint about my alarm is that my antenna went out last weekend for no reason and i had to swap it out with a new one (but it has a lifetime warrenty, so its all good)
