Installing Spkr Components..........

Ok everyone, I have decided that I will replace my OEM component set with a JL Audio XR650-CSi 6.5" Component Set and run them on an Alpine MRV-T320 2ch Amp. I have a few questions though.

1. First off, will the 6.5" JLs fit in the piece which the OEM 6.5" speakers fit into without any mods as well as the tweeters?

2. Secondly, I have a question about installing. I am going to do this myself, since it isn't too much harder than installing my subwoofer. I am not sure how the stock wires are plugged into the OEM 6.5" and Tweeters, but I am guessing they have an adapter like the rear 6x9s. Do I need to use larger guage wires to run from the speakers to the amplifier and leave the wires that plug into the back of the HU alone just incase I have to ever replace the new components with the OEM speakers?

3. Lastly, on the Harness, there are only wires for the front right/left and rear left/right. Now this leads me back to the previous question, do I need to leave all the OEM wires alone and wire each 6.5" speaker and tweeter directly to the crossover and then to the amplifier, or is there something else that I need to do? If I do need to use new wires, what guage should I use?

I would really appreciate your help on this matter. Overall, I think that this project wouldn't be that hard if I had these answers questions. Thank you everyone for all your help. I know that I have been posting alot lately, but I don't want to screw up anything.

1. just by looking i can tell you'll need a spacer for those woofers. dunno about tweets.

2. yes you can do that. just disconnect the OEM speakers, leave the wire since it'd be worthless to get it out of there, and run your new wires to the speaks.

3. wire amp to xovers, then xovers to speakers. leave the OEM alone. 16 gauge wire will be fine for you.

good luck w/ your project

You will definitly need a spacer for the 61/2s, you can either make them out of mdf or buy some at a local store. For the tweeters, if you are using EX pods, you will probably need to cut the back of the stock pod out, when i installed my tweeters for my vr components i know i had to because they wouldnt sit flush. Dont worry about cutting this piece up, i think new ones cost like $5 each. To mount the new ones I just hot glued them in.

You will want to run new speaker wires from the amp to the crossover to the speakers. Remember that its not usually recommended to put the x-overs IN the doors. Its ususally ok to put them on the door on the panel side of the moisture barrier. Or the kick panels have plenty of room for those x-overs too.
