another rca question

i got a stock head unit and the guy from best buy told me that the best way to go about connecting my amp is to get an rca adapter for it. What i am wondering is where do i plug in the 2 plugs (red, white), the cable is silver and is long enough to go from the trunk to the head unit but i am guessing i cant connect it there because i have a stock unit? Also i have the other 4 wires tha come out of the rca connected to my amp.

I'm not sure what you are saying, but I believe what the Best Buy dude said was that you need a line level convertor, so you can tap into your speaker channels from your stock HU and then connect RCA cables to the line level convertor. Then, you can connect the RCA cables to your amplifier. If you Amplifier has Speaker level inputs, you can tap the rear channels directly to the amplifier

So i can tap the 4 or 5 wires from the rca to the speakers and then connect it to the amp,can i do the tap from the trunk or must i pull the HU out and tap from there.

Another thing, in my amp kit that i bought, it has one red cable for power that i ran from the battery to the trunk and it has a short cable that is for ground. Thats all the cables it came with, so theres nothing to connect power to teh sub from the amp, can i just cut a piece off and use that ..

can yes. should no. buy some speaker wire, 14 or 12 gauge is plenty, and you only will need a few feet. you'll probably need a long piece to use as a remote turn on lead, or a wire that is hot when the car is on (not off) to turn the amp on. (use speaker wire here too)

it looks to me like you should get it professionally installed or installed by a friend.... at least get someone that knows what theyre doing to help you, or you might screw something up royally...
