antenna wire (pioneer 840)
antenna wire (pioneer 840)
hey guys, is there suppose to be a wire on the harness kit that plugs into the power antenna wire on aftermarket headunits? my pioneer 840mp has a blue wire labeled power system control and the metra harness has a blue wire for power antenna. should i connect these?

You MUST hook up the blue power antenna wire. It supplies power to the antenna amp. Without it reception will be crap. If you check the harness adapter you'll see one wire from the car side that isn't connected to anything(I forget the color). I think it's in the corner of the adapter. Make a jumper from that wire to the blue wire and VOILA! your reception is back. I had the same problem until I hooked up this wire. For some unkown reason the adapter manufacturers don't seem to realise that this Honda DOES have a power antenna.

Yea, etched glass antenna is a "powered" antenna, just not a "motorized" one.
I never really cared about readio reception on the 740 i had since i used mp3 discs with like 14 albums of music on them. besides, all teh good songs on the radio just get played over and over like every 15 minutes, why listen to the same crap over and over when you have a player that can handle 24+ straight hours of music on one disc without having to change cds?
