my install, as it progresses...
Finally after a month of debating whether or not to start tearing into my new car, i decided to go for it.
Only have the 5.6" TFT Screen installed, but it does have internal tv so im ok with that until i get my dvd and fm modulator. Hope the pics work.

i love that pocket the new Z has, what a perfect place for a screen, and you can close the pocket to, nice.
what else you have planned? looking good so far.

Actually that "pocket" is the factory nav location, but i didnt want to waste 2 grand on a map. I have a map book from sams club for like 20 bucks in my storage box behind the passenger seat. I just took out teh storage bin they give you in there and added my screen. All that is left for my install is the fm modulator (digital modulator, not analogue) and DVD. The mod is at a shop down teh road from my house, and the DVD is somewhere on the road being delivered UPS sometime soon. The pics dont really do too much for complimenting the install, but in person the screen silver casing matches the rest of my silver and brushed aluminum accents perfectly.[hr]

Yes, BOSE system (hard to see but its logo on the tape deck cover), and i dont know if youve heard bad things about it, but i personally love it, i think that all these guys are just whining about how they paid for the better system and they are just not happy with it (load of crap babies that expect everything to be perfect to their liking). well obviously this is not going to perform like their 6000 dollar JL audio install with Alpine navigation and DVD changers and stuff, its still a factory sound system, but it definitely rocks. The bose system is a 240watt system plus an 80 watt independant 10" subwoofer behind the drivers seat.
Right now i have no plans on upgrading the factory speakers. I may end up unplugging the rear speakers though since they provide nothing for the soundstage of the vehicle. (too close to and mounted vertical towards your head, should have been flush mounted like rears in the civic, and much farther back in the vehicle)
Obviously from the pics i have the Touring edition. (only version that has leather, and in dash changer/cassette stereo) And every nissan dealer i have spoken to so far has aggreed on the fact that automatic comes standard in the touring editing. Seems that Nissan changed their minds after they revised their web site at launch of the new Z. The manual tranny in the "touring" Z actually costs 1600 dollars more. Only vehicle in Nissans current lineup that costs more to have the manual than auto of the same model.

i knew that there was a Z that came with leather, i thought it was the enthusiast model, my bad, i was wrong. it sucks that the manual costs more than the auto, its actually kind of odd, i usually find that with cars that offer both a manual and an auto, the manual is is cheaper, or the same, but $1600 more, thats crazy.
nice car though, i love that interior.
here are some small pics or our 350Z. these are from www.caraudioplanet.com. the large pics are to big for this site to save...sorry. If you look at your headlight, that is where they got the design for the speaker box. The floors were fiberglasses and an EL Panel is sandwhiched in there so that the Rockford logo lights up. its on 19's, lowered, full custom paint and a carbon fiber hood. I can get whatever info you need on the build up. Just let me know.

Ok, well the system is installed and its awesome. DVD works great, even plays "burned" VCD's not just real stamped ones. Region free too so anything goes in this thing. Best part is that if i have an mp3 disc with .jpg pics on it, the unit will display the images as a slideshow while the music is playing. No pics of the dvd install since its just behind the passenger seat and basically hidden away, just kinda imagine something cool like gone in 60 seconds or InitialD playing on teh screen and thats what it looks like working. I did use the fm modulator to input audio into the stock headunit, and im not too happy with the sound quality since im used to digital audio in my house, but for the sound quality it puts out i am very pleased, it does the job well enough to not make me want to upgrade the headunit to something with a digital in signal.
