help from creative people/customizers
alright, so my new project for my trunk is in the works, and i wanna get rid of the spare tire under my car, it keeps smacking speed bumps, and im not even dropped.... now, your mission, is to think of a place for me to put a spare that isnt the trunk and that isnt under teh trunk....
dont hold back, if its remotely possible, ill try it...

Sorry.......Can't really think of anywhere else.

:_ doh:

We don't really have that many options with our cars.
Only thing I can think of is getting ride of it and pray you don't get a flat.
That's what I'm going to do.

Fix a flat isn't all that.
Generally makes nothing but a mess. So if you wanna **** of the mechanic that is going to plug the tire ...... go ahead.
Can you somehow mount it on edge in the trunk?

That would be cool if you have a gf who is a midget! It would make no leg room in the front and then no one will ever want to ride in your car! Unless you are thinking about putting it as far forw ard as possible standing up? That would still create less leg room, but atleast the floor will not be raised.
These are some of the ideas that I have thought off before:
1. Mount it to the top of the trunk. When you open the trunk it will be right there on the trunk hood.
2. Put it on the side of the trunk flush and standing up, then make a false door to cover it. And then maybe you mount your amps on the other side and make a false door for them.
If there is a will there is a way!!!!

O.K., I'll take a shot at this. If you aren't opposed to cutting some metal, than this may just be the ticket. Completely remove the bottom cushion of the back seat and mount the tire inside the well. I'm assuming the entire spare won't fit, but you can grind out an opening where the rest of the tire would enter the rear passenger compartment. The tire would only extend into the flat floor where in most cars (except our beloved Civic's) would have the transmission hump. Throw a carpet cover over the tire and you're done.

i like your idea, but i believe that under the rear seat of a sedan is the gas tank. also seems like crazy amounts of work, but i like both of those ideas.... i think im just going with the floor... only problem with the floor is the lack of kickpanel space in the passenger side, but, i have some doorpanel kicks that are in the making in my head as soon as i get this damn check in a few weeks...

What if you kept the spare deflated to save much more room, and just keep one of those DC automotive air compressors to pump it up in the event of a flat?
what I am doing with mine is getting an embroidered cover with the Honda logo, and I'm goign to mount the spare to the amp cover up panel. This is the panel when removed in my car you can see the amps in the spare tire well through the plexi, when in it flushes above the plexi. So I can keep the spare and it is easy to show people what is underneath.

here's a realy trick idea that 'might' work only if you wanna tear into your vic. hollow out the wider side back seat and mount it in there with a cover on the back. not in the truck but close, jus a thought.
