Which one is better?
Between Kenwood and Pioneer cd decks which one do you think is better? Not a specific model but the quality of output from the two companies. I'm talking about the one's that are less than $200.

Pioneer, and there are good reasons. Pioneer speakers are stock on the civic. I dont know why so many people waste hundreds of dollars on speakers for their cars, but i just replaced my stock headunit with a pioneer premier 740mp and after that i felt that there was NO NEED to replace the stock speakers, and just added a pair of 10's in the trunk for the lows.

Just cause YOU don't have any ears...., nah dude, just kidding. We buy after-market speakers because the stock ones distort at high volume, and dont have good definition or transient response. My speakers go about 4-5x louder than the stock speakers.....you can pretty much crank it as loud as you want, and it doesnt distort at all. (you would have to have it so loud to hear distortion you wouldent be able to sit in the car)
Oh yeah, both decks are good, but man, search, you would have gotten an answer quicker....i've seen like 30 threads about kenwood/pioneer, and "Whats the best deck to buy?"

Kenwoods have had RCA out problems, with low voltages and such. ive also heard (but never seen) abotu kenwood faces failing
pioneers are rediculously complicated, ahve too many functions
but are solid solid units. between teh two, id go pioneer in my car.

I have owned 3 Kenwood HUs in my life and that is all I have owned. All of my friends have Kenwoods as well because my friend used to get them at just above cost. Myself and none of my friends have never had any problems with any of our Headunits. I have also been using the same Kenwood CD changer since I was 17 (and I am now 26)...if that is not quality and longevity, then I don't know what is?!?
I also recently put my old Kenwood HU in my GFs car to replace her Pioneer. Both headunits were about the same price (within $10 of each other, but the pioneer was a year older), and she will tell you that the Pioneer did not sound as good as the Kenwood does. She is not biased by preformed ideas and judgements so she would give an accurate assesment of what she hears, because I am like a Kenwood groupie
Also the pioneer had way too many things to figure out and were quite useless (ie:the FIE). Anywayz, i kinda like the Pioneer Premiers, but I will always prefer kenwood.
