6.5 speakers won't fit properly??!!

I bought 6.5 size pioneer speakers to replace the front two speakers for my 2k1 Coupe. I took the stock speaker off but when I went to go put on my pioneers it would not fit right. I checked out the DIY but that didn't really help. My speakers did not come with a extra mounting bracket. Anybody else had this problem?

Yeah that diy really isn't worth much...... someone should make a better one.
Yer gonna need to make or buy spacers. If ya make em just measure how
much space yer gonna need to get speakers to fit, then go out and buy
the appriopriate sized MDF(medium density fiberboard) and cut it......
Prolly wanna use a jigsaw. Mine fried a while back so I'm gonna have to
buy some spacers....... bah...... but anyhow that's it.

I ran into the same problem, but I searched beforehand and found Grey's post about the exact model Scosche spacers to get. I bought them and some Dynamat from SoundDomain before I started the install, and everything went pretty well. Just gotta be careful when drilling for the new holes, and make sure you get nice, long screws before you start the project

spacers.. or dont put the door panel back on and chalk it upto weight reudction. j/k
i tried to fit focal 6.5 components and no-way, no-how would they fit w/ the door panel. the magnet was just too big.

however, the focal 5 1/4 fit just fine w/ spacers.

Well, after an hour of trying to make spacers and trying to come up with a way to make it fit, I decided to just take it into best buy, haha... Its $35 for them to install it, so I hope they'll do a good job.

Sound Domain $3.95
these should be the same as the ones CRUTCHFIELD sent me...they should include the required screws......all you have to do is drill (3) 1/8" holes...not hard at all, save your money!

Thanks!! I took it to Best Buy and they said my speaker depth was long, so they had to do custom work on it. That would've cost me a arm and a leg. I just ordered the 1'' spacers and hopefully I can make it fit.

i cut out 3/4 in rings of mdf, then used some rammatt to space it up a little farther, that and to keep the wood and metal to not viberate.
