Best Speakers without sub-woofer
I just got a Sony MP3/CD/XM Radio plaer for my car for Christmas and was wondering which speakers are the best without a woofer? I want a crisp clean bass, not something that drowns out everything else. Oh yeah, Merry Christmas guys. Hope everyone got what they wanted. I wanted an Thermal R&D Exhaust but I guess that'll have to wait.

My cousin said Infinity Kappa's were pretty good, who knows. Do you need an amp or can you just put in the speakers?
Disregard the last statement. So I guess it would sound better with an amp. Hmmm.

Sorry, I was originally going to ask something else off topic, but then that popped into my head.
Thanks for the advice though. I think I'll just have to go listen to some of them myself.

i have a set of diamond audio M3 components, but they dont give out that much bass, excellent sound though. however, the M6 and HEX components give out sound nice bass, i heard both in a shop, and i heard the HEX in a civic si ( project car for that shop ) and they had incredible bass from a 6.5" woofer, i think the amp was running 150 watts to them. the M6 components seem to be a great value, but i couldn't afford them, i think they cost $250 or less online.
EDIT: i forgot all about boston, i had ( still have ) 2 pairs of boston acoustics rx67 6.5" 2 way coaxils in my car, they have great bass reproduction when compared to my M3's, i just liked the sound from the diamonds more.
btw, i want to sell those speakers, the bostons, i have 2 pairs, what can i sell them for? any takers?

lol i work at a stereo shop and bostons own joo lol , cant beat them for the price you can turn your bass up and make them sound like small subs or turn the treble all the way up and make them sound like you have a hundred tweeters b/c they sound so crisp or balance them for a great sound. they will run you about 400$ but there the best.

MB Quart kills the puny little boston speakers....sheesh...j/p LOL
I have quarts and I am very happy with them. However, a lot of people don't like them. My point is not everyone likes the same thing and you really can't tell someone what speaker set they will like best. You need to go out and listen for yourself. Go to a couple places and listen to everything they have. Then, simply buy the pair you like best. I love my quarts and they were fairly expensive but I also love the infinity line of speakers. So, don't let price be a guiding force, only your ears.
You will need an amp to get a decent amt of volume w/o distortion.

most actual bass from speakers.. B;aupunkt ODwa 6x9's for the rear and get VCerwin Vega HED 6.5's for the front.. off HU power the Blau ODwA 6x9's can't be beat for just adding bass. But they are a DVC speaker and you can eithe wire them full range..or just power the woofer and low pass it at 250hz and they'll play like a pair of 8" free air subs.(mind you HU power is pretty limited)..but that will work best for the $$

well a detachable faceplate to my experience is something to give you a sense of false security. Car audio and car thieves don't uselessly break into cars. They usually know what you have allready so it won't matter. I have an Eclipse 5441 which doesn't have a detachable face and looks pretty slick. Anyone that know's eclipse and would recognize it as beeing what it is and steals it. Would also know that they'd never get it to work.
Detachable face plates might keep a thief from taking your HU. Most thieves don't break into cars just to take the HU unless their total amateurs. Most will listen for a car that pulls n bumping loud and go for the amps and subs over anything else.
If you have a lower end or not so flashy HU you won't have to worry anyways. The only HU's thieves really target are Pioneers with organic EL displays, Most others they couldn't care less about because they'll never sell them because the prices online are so cheap anyways.
