tough decision

I have a tough decision i want to get oppinions on. I'm Going to be getting a jl 500/1 amp for christmas and i need to find subs since my old one was stolen. I've narrowed it down to a 10w7, 12w7, 1 or 2 kicker 12L7's, or an 15L7. I just wanted to know what people think would go the best with my amp. I'm kinda leaning towards the kickers because they're a lot cheaper and still hit hard, i'm just not sure about how well they'll go with my amp.

well that depends almost exclusively on the enclosure you put any of the subs in...I'm also selling my 15" Eclipse alum for $350US shipped in a 1.55 cu.ft double baffled box which was sound deadened and the works..

Sub still has 19 months left on it warranty!!

Okay I'm trying to sell my sub..lol.

the kicker L7's in a sealed enclosure do not get overly loud..but sound damn nice..ported..wit 500Wrms..the 2 12's will make you feel your kidneys rattle..

the 12W7 would perferm pretty good SPL wise..you should b able to hit high 130's no prob in a sealed setup. But they cost an arm and a leg and a kidney..

so basically the two 12L7's in a ported box would be the best set-up.

for SPL..pretty much..depending on the port tuning.. the 12W7 would be as well ported..but 2 L7's WOuld probably be cheaper..specially if your making the box yourself

Win ISD is a good quideline..but real world experience counts as well..you want a box that will sound really good..hit really low and play rather loud?..

wouldnt 2 12's be a little underpowered off just one 500/1?

Not necessairaly....it depends on how well you tune the amp, and the powerhandling of the subs....I hit 144.2 Db with a JL 500/1 and two JL 12W3's....

the kicker has an rms of 750watts. I dunno really how it works with 2 subs but any more suggestions. I was planning on using a ported box anyways because i know how well the kickers sounds in em.
