I need a good sounding HU that I can see...
Alright, this angle in the dash of our cars is driving me crazy. I got my girlfriend a new Alpine deck for Christmas, and it kicks ***, and I want one. I've got the stock CD HU right now, and a set of Infinity Reference 6.5 coaxials that will be going in my front doors within the next week or so. Anyways, in her Corolla the deck is mounted very low in the dash, so sunlight doesn't affect it. I've seen a few aftermarket decks in 7th gens, and I haven't really been able to read the displays of any of them when it's light out. I would really prefer an Alpine deck, but they all seem to have unreadable displays. Any recommendations?

There isn't really a single one that you'll be able to see when the suns glaring off it.. migt wanna try a NAkamichi CD45z..there really isn't much of a display at all...
alright, check it out, some LCD's are wierd like this, and others arent. take a look at an exclusively eclipse display for example (the only exampe i can say anythign about) you look at the radio's from the top down (the corolla) and from the botom up (your civic). half the units you can see one way, the other half you see the other way. Mo is absolutely right, ANY nak radio will work pretty well (it would seem form my tests) in our cars, half the eclipses ive seen, a few clarions.....
go to a shop that is a dealer of the radio you want. then take a look from underneath it. if you can see the numbers, then there is a *good* chance youll be set!

I can't tint my windshield ;-)
I was actually looking at the Nak CD-45z, as it seems to have an excellent reputation for sound quality. I also like the totally bland look, looks quite a lot like the OEM radio It might be hard to get one though, the word out on the street is that Nak USA is dead, and a lot of places are out of stock on the 45z. I'll have to try the "looking from beneath" trick

Anybody know how the display and output is on this HU, cause this is one I was considering. Clarion HX-D10
Every high end HU I have installed in the RSX-S glares in the sun light as well... Just learn which buttons do what and get on with life, since they will all glare at that angle.
