Question about factory alarm

I have been wondering about this since I got my LX sedan last year: when I disarm the factory alarm system, if I open only the trunk without first opening one of the doors, the alarm tries to re-arm itself after about 20 seconds, and the horn belts out three honks when it can't do it (because the trunk is open). If I open one of the doors first, then I can get in the trunk and rummage around to my heart's content.

Are those of you with factory alarms experiencing this same behavior?

Thanks!

The keyless entry is the same way on the civics. If you unlock the doors but don't open one it relocks itself after 30 secs. I'm sure the alarm is probably wired very similarly to the keyless entry. Cause I can hit the unlock button and open up the trunk and all but after 30 sec. the doors will be locked when I try to go into it. You would think they wouldn't do that with the alarm, but I'll bet its just because its the same as the keyless entry.

Aha! So, it's the keyless entry. Well, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just a problem with my car. Seems kinda strange to program it to operate that way...my friend has a 2002 Accord EX, and he can open just the trunk without any problem. He's been urging me to take my car into the dealer for repair, but I thought I would check here first.

Thanks, dups...

no prob, but it might be a good idea to call and talk to somebody in the service dept. and see what they say. But I would bet that the accords system and the civics are different. My girlfriend has an accord and you can't lock the doors with her keyless entry or alarm or whatever when the trunk is open. Its designed different then the civic for some strange reason. Maybe somebody will correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm not 100% sure, but I am pretty sure...
