Mine was a bit of a pain in the assss to be truthfull......
I haven't seen the DIY around here, I'll explain a bit............
#1.....Take your spare out along w/ the metal peice in the tire area.....
#2.....I used 1/2 inch fiber/press board.......
#3.....take the piece of board that covered your spaare tire and trace that onto the new piece of fiber board.
#4 cut that out.....this will be your new "top"......
#5......measure the dims of the tire area.....and figure out how much air space you';ll need and build a box that will go into the whole.......
#6.....glue screw the box togther.......then glue/screw the box to the the traced out board you did earlier......
#7..then cut however many holes into the box you need........
#8 then use the carpet from the old board that cover the spare and glue to the new board.....
you can make covers or do whatever.......It wasn't that hard...just a pain in the ****......
I used some plexi covers just so I didn't ruin my subs......is not that hot..but it works......

5/8" Furniture grade plywood would be the way to go then..it's strong and lot lighter than MDF..you'd still have to brace it though. pretty much just running 1x1" boards across the center of the box to keep the walls from flexing..
this will keep it light..and strong.. Sraying in a whole can of Dynaliner, or Cascade V-block will help to deaden it as well..

it looks hot as hell, but lacks horribly in sound, i built boxes to exact specs of what they should be for my subs, sealed the airtight, sounded horrible, stuffed them with filler, sounded horrible, although it looked really nice, i couldnt bear it and took it out and went back to my old box, but to each is own.

to answer both of you, i didnt mount the amps anywhere yet because im not done buying amps... its a surprise what i plan on doing... hehe... still gotta replace that god awful sub amp, and still gotta replace the subs too, but on my budget, stuff like this takes forever to buy...
and no, its not green carpet, its (im waiting for people to laugh at me) green velvet...
