Rep Power: 0 Infinity 605cs components
I installed these in the front. When I set BAS and TRE to 3 and FAD to F02 and turn up the volume to about 20 of 30 there are parts in the music where the tweeters will crap out. Is this because the crossovers athat come with the speakers are not as good as if I was using a high pass on an amp? Any help would be appreicated.

Rep Power: 289 Coming from an ex-installer 80 percent of distortion came from under powering speakers or poor crossover's. Infinty's are good but you may think of getting an amp with built in crossover's to give you a little more power and you have the ability to adjust crossover points. hope this info helps!

Rep Power: 0 the tweeters crapping out is due entirely to the fact that youre underpowering them and therefore feeding them distortion to try to get t your desired volume level... a crossover on an amp will not affect the tweeters, only the lows... infinity makes some decent speakers, but the suspensions are a tad bit too stiff to run off an HU.

here is why:
you underpower your speaker, then the speaker isnt going to its potential, and it most likely will not satisfy you. you want it to be louder, so you turn it up louder from the underpowering source, therefore, you turn it up beyond the source's clean level of power, into a level where the source begins to distort.
example:
i had 4 infinity kappa coaxial 6.5's in my sedan running off my HU... the suspension on a kappa is kinda stiff, so i was getting absilutely no midbass and lower midrange (im waiting for the cracks WhiteRabbit), so i would turn it up louder hoping to get a better signal out of it, and oh no, i was getting nothing but distortion. amp comes along, i can turn it up to god awful loud levels (its still not enough, hoping to get some Orion HCCA 6s 2 ohm componentsbecause they sound pretty and so i can be running 150rmsx4 without buying a new amp) and it only distorts at super loud levels.

Rep Power: 0 if ya dont mind spendin 250-300 on that amp, look into a kicker KX 600.4 ... i got it off ikesound for 269
came with a little birthsheet saying it runs 642 rms bridged, so im looking at 80 or so per channel.... havent had any problems with it, and doesnt heat up all that much at all because it has a built in fan...
