I have one for my semi truck. If you want one for your car or whatever a Galaxy radio is the best. They run around 200 and need to be converted from 10 meter radio to CB. These are the best because you can have around 200 channels to talk on insted of 40 and not everyone can get these other channels. Thought I'd help you out. The best place to get these are truckstops.

Buying this radio and listening is just fine, but if you use it, be aware that you are committing a federal crime by operating a transmitting device not designed for that frequency as well as the fact that the 11-Meter band (Citizens Band or CB Radio) only allows for AM Operation at 4 watts and single sideband operation at 12 watts. The galaxy puts out a lot more than that, which is also against the law.

if you are just wanting to watch out for cops, buy a decent little radio shack one for $60, save yourself the worry and expense of purchasing an illegal unit, hook it up, put it on channel 19, and listen for the Smokeys.

And if someone sells you that galaxy radio, and if someone modifies it for use on CB band both, that's two more laws broken.

There is your introduction to Federal Communications Laws.
