Quart QSD Series

I'm getting the Quart QSD 4" components and then the add on 6.5" midbass kit this december. But I'm designing my trunk layout now. Does anyone know if the mid-bass kit has one or two crozzovers? Also, I'm assuming the components have 2 crosssovers, correct?

The midbass kit comes with 2 X/O's A lowpass for the midbass..and a highpass to send to the mids...you still need a highpass though for the midbass woofer( your amp should have one)

so just so I'm sure.. when it's all said and done between the 6 speakers that make up this set I'll have a total of 4 xovers- 2 come with the add-on midbass kit and 2 come with the component set?

excellent.. thanks all. Also I'm chose this set based on the way the 2 way 6.5" component sounds. If anyone has heard the Focal Utopia 3 way component set and the QSD set- I found that when I listened to the quarts there was just a tad more clarity than the utopias. I haven't gotten a chance to hear the 3 way sets of either of these can anyone attest to the setup I'm talking about having better clarity than the 3 way utopias?

as far as clarity of either set their both awesome..the utopia's have better midbass...the Q's seem more detailed..both can have very harsh tweeters if not setup right...Rainbow Pro's are the happy point.. Crazy midbass..smooth detailed tweeter..but a little lack in midrange detail..

Dayum! I wish I could have afforded the QSD series. I just got through installing my QM 6 1/2" components about 6am this morning. Man! I love that tweeter. It's bright, accurate, and dayum do I love it when you turn it up and that tweeter rings the ear with downright accurate harshness...I love em!

Now, I just need a sub for the rear and I think I'll be set.

Oh, my point was, nice to see another quart fan around.

The tweeters on the QSD are not harsh by default as MB Quart is always being criticized for. Of course installation is a key but the QSD tweeters are very nice and yes they do have a more realistic sound which is often labeled slightly harsh when compared to the anemic sound of the Utopias. LISTEN! LISTEN! LISTEN! Beautiful sounding speakers. Wait until you here the new QSD subs that are about to be released.

notice I said can be.. the lower down Q's if installed on axis can be painful..installed properly off axis are very nice..the TN51's on the utopia's..those can be harsh no matter how you work them..but in a civic with hard plastic interior...no tweeter will truly sound "perfect" there's always going to peaks and and a strange image effect with some sounds..

This is my 3rd set of quart components. I have always had them in doors next to handle. Right up with my ear. I love the harshness....always have. There not really harsh to me though, it's just crystal clear sound reproduction - very loud. Most everyone I know hates to ride with me because of how I listen to my music..to each his own though...

Haven't heard the QSDs. I can only imagine.
