best settings for optimal sound

What is the best way to set sound settings for a setup similar to this: 300Watt amp powering all 4 channels, infinity reference 605cs speakers up front and pioneer 6x9 3ways in the back. I know this may seem like a stupid question, but I guess I just want to see if there are better ways to do things than what I have done. Basically I kinda set the gain at a reasonable level that isn't too high and I set both the front and rear gains at the same level, I then set the bass at +5, the treble at center, and the fader at R1. The thing is if I raise the fader any higher then that I think the tweeters on the infinitys seem a little harsh, but when I set it the way it is now the tweeters don't seem quite as harsh. Is there any way to solve the harshness aside from just fading it to the back more? Or are there better settings for the gains and such then what I used? I dunno, I guess this kind of sounds stupid and trivial, but I'm just curious what other people do or would do with the kind of setup. If you have any advice, I appreciate it. Thanks!

yeah, I thought that was coming. Does it make any difference though adjusting the stage with the gains or with the fader in the HU?

Regularjoe is on a distinguished road
1) Turn all settings flat. Bass, treble, fader, eq's, loud, everything to off or 0.
2) Turn all the gains all the way down.
3) Turn the volume to 0.
4) Fade all the way to the front.
5) Turn up the volume to 85% of max volume.
6) Turn up the front gain till u hear distortion.
7) Back off gain slightly.
8) Put volume back at 0.
9) Fade all the way to the rear.
10) Turn up volume to 85% of max volume.
11) Turn up the rear gain untill u hear distortion.
12) Back off gain slightly.
13) Fade forward so that you hear both speakers and it sounds good. This will probably be best if set very far forward. If needed you can turn the gain of the rear speakers down a bit to help adjust the fading.

You will now have all 4 speakers maxing out at 85% of the max level of the deck. Adjust bass, etc. as desired. Generally the LESS you up the bass and treble the better off you are.
