i just noticed today that when i accelerate, there is a high pitch sound from the drivers side front speaker. when the volume is up, you can't hear it, but at low volumes or when i pause, i can hear it. what can it be? i'm sure that my ground is fine, i used the bolt that holds the bottom of the back seat to ground the amp. is there some kind of interference? maybe the stock wires are too thin?
at normal listening volume, i can't hear the sound, but i know its there, and i dont want to mess up my speakers or amp in any way, please help.

its interferance...alternator if i remember is what causes it?

or running your power and speaker wires together

sand down to bare metal and groudn it there, a bolt alone wont' do.

hmmm...i did sand the paint off first, i'm pretty sure its grounded right. what about the alternator? so, i replace the alternator, lol, just kidding. if i turn the front gain down on the amp, the sound goes away, but that sucks because i want the gain up. i'll check the ground again.

is it only through that speaker, because if so, then youre crossing power lines with speaker or rca lines for that channel alone

yea, just the front drivers side. but i dont understand the rest, even though i did install this stuff, i am a newbie of the first.

it's alternator whine. Get your RCAs away from any other wires

get an inline noise filter. with rca input/output its easy to hookup and will solve ur probs.

filter shouldn't be used to compensate for a problem that should'nt have occured because the installation wasn't done correctly. Just check your wires

you're probably right, i bet the rca's are too close to other wires and such, i just slapped everything together, never occured to me that something like this would happen.

if its only one speaker though, the rca's or speaker cable for that specific speaker are crossing...

might be radated noise that's only getting into one side of the pair of RCAs

You may want to upgrade your RCA's if you don't have good ones already. Cheap RCA's are ok for subs b/c you aren't running the same type of high quality, high pitch sounds out of subs, therefore the signal is alot more tempermental for mids and his. Try to run your RCA's from your deck along with the remote wire along the driver's side, then run your power wire alone on the passenger side, that should take care of your problem.

don't run the remote wire with the RCAs... there's a constant 12v current with the HU is on. you can get noise from that too.

thats what i did, ran all the cables and wires on the passenger side of the car, figured it would be easier and more convienent to do it that way, guess i should have come on here first to ask how to install the amp and wires properly. i should have some time this weekend to do it, hopefully it works ( i wouldn't see why not ). thanks for the help guys.

btw, i'm using hooker rca's and amp kit ( 4 gauge ), it wasn't that expensive compared to monster cable, but the guy at the audio shop said they are good cables, should i upgrade to monster cable or something?

I had the same problem for a bit after I got my Diamond M6 components put in.

And yes, I have Monster Cable RCA's.

I actually already had them on separate sides of the car, but they merged back up at the rear seat on the way to the amp. Basically I ended up putting thick wire wrap around the RCA's, and then split loom over that. I did it from the rear seat to the amp, basically any time the RCA's got near anything.

I also took a dremel to where my ground was attatched to the frame. Made sure there was lots of bare metal.

I figure it was probably a combo of both.

Now I don't have even a hint of altenator whine.

I had the same problem not to long ago, and I posted on here, but my problem was probably really unique to what anybody else suggests, and was partially a matter of my own stupidity. But in any case, this link to crutchfield's website is what led me to my answer. Just thought it may help in case you try some things and still get stumped.

one thing mentioned in the article was dirty components, like the battery and headlights or something, and now that i think about it, my engine bay is filthy, that might be part of the problem, but i think what the others suggested might be the problem, the cables and wires touching, its too cold and rainy outside ( i dont have a garage to work in ) so i dont know when i will find the time to do it, but i will, i did all this other stuff, so i need to finish the job. can't thank you guys enough for all the help and suggestions, this forum is great [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/IMG]
