looking to get an EQ, who here has one?...

i was looking at getting this EQ:
http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=claeqs560
Clarion EQS-560 5 band

its small, simple, and inexpensive, thats why i'm thinking of getting it.
i checked on clarions site, and i think i should be able to get better control over my sub with this, along with the fronts ( which are now the diamond audio m3's )

any opinions on this EQ? what other EQ's are good, for around the same price ( no more than $100 US )?

also, if anyone has pics of their EQ's mounted in their car, that would be great.

I have an indash EQ.. little more than $100 but much better..even comes with a mounting plate for $150US shipped .. Eclipse 21010..

From an honest point of view cheap eq's suck..Very often they add a fair bit of THD and don't equalize very well...

The one your looking at looks allright tho...the only one's I would avoid are those with sliders instead of rotary *****..

for $60 though, would you get it?

i have that metra dash kit that replaces the factory pocket, and i know that the EQ wont fit in that pocket, so i was thinking of mounting it in the glove box ( i dont keep anything in there, other than some cd's )

another question mohawk, i will be diy'ing this, so what else will i need to do this install? some rca's? i've seen the back of the unit, and it looks like i have to front and rear rca's from the amp to the output on the EQ, and then some rca's from the HU to the input in the EQ, does that sound right?

is there any other function that this EQ will provide? other than the basic tuning of the sub and front/rear speaker frequencies?

That EQ has a sub out and 1 output for the left 1 for the right.. no front/rear. You'll also need the wiring harness for power, dimmer, Ground and remote turn on.. Buy the american international kit ($11) and use the plastic from the OEM pocker to make a mounting plate..having it in the glove box will annoy the crap out of you because you'll want to change settings on the fly.. for $60 you really can't go wrong..

it took me 30 minutes to make the plate for mine.. just make a pattern out with cardboard of paper first.. cut it about 2mm too big and file down for a tight form fitting fit..

2k2civic should not be trusted2k2civic should not be trusted
I used to have one of those equalizers and my cousin has one now. He mounted it under the head unit in the pocket (scosche kit in a 2k2 civic) and he got it to fit by pulling off the cover on the EQ and shaving the pocket by a tiny amount. It could have came out nicer looking (the face of the EQ doesn't sit flush with the plastic of the kit), but it can be made to fit very easily. Oh, and you will need power, remote, and ground, along with one set of RCA's from the head unit and one or two out to your amps (depending on your application.)
