I want to take some pics of my install. Really turned out well. Anyway I was wondering what type of camera's is everyone using to take pics of their rides.
What specs, price, etc .... should I be looking at?
Fonto, btw those pics are great ... nice quality. Thats what I am looking for.
Thanks in advance.

I used the "high end" Kodak drugstore disposible camera for $10.99. They had a special where you can get 3 inch prints (which I use for reference) and a picture CD for $5.99 at Long's drugs. My girlfriend who is a web designer said that the quality on a picture CD would be best. The first camera that I used was a cheap $5.99 Kodak that came out like
My Girlfriend (Val below) resized most of the pictures in Photoshop so that they come out nice (thanks babe, if you read this!). If you don't some pics will look Funky!!!
I am just bummed that I took my pics before I cleaned up all of my wiring with wire tires, but it is not worth taking new pictures for

i used the crappy 20 dollar webcam that came with my computer... so basically i had to drag my mom's laptop out to my driveway and do that... but the quality suuuuuuucks on that camera... you get what you pay for
you want a good camera? get the nikon coolpix 500 or something like that... its only 1000 dollars =)

we have a Kodak DX3900. im very happy with the quality. its a 3.1Mega Pixel camera, and was about $460 i think. one tip, id recommend getting a bigger flash card, the 8MB one that comes with it only gives like 30 or so pics(i think) with 3.1 MP, we have a 64 MB card and you can get about 110 pics on with 3.1MP, and upto 277 if its set at .8MP.

Megapixels: Any camera that has at least 1 MP can take decent pictures. You can generally take pictures at higher resolutions with higher MP cameras, and the quality is better on the higher priced models. My advice, read reviews before you buy and get the best for the amount you can spend.
USB connectivity: Some cameras have USB capability built in. You simply attach a cable between the camera and your USB port on the comp.
Stay FAR AWAY from Serial connectors, cause they're VERY slow. (My old vivitar has it)
Cradle: Some cameras can sit in a cradle that is connected to your computer and acts the same as a USB connection.
Memory card reader: You can take out your memory card out of the camera when it's full and plug it into this device and it acts like another drive in My Computer or Explorer. You can then just drag and drop the pics onto your hard drive and edit them. You could also PUT a picture or file onto the stick if you want to share pics with others. You must match the reader to the type of card you're using, or get the type of reader that has multiple plugs for different types.
Memory cards: Almost all digital cameras have a memory card slot. There are several different types, such as: compact flash, smartmedia, mmc, and Sony's proprietary memory stick card. Memory cards expand the number of pictures you can take and the cards come in many different megabyte sizes available at any electronics store or online.
Disk drive/cd drive: Sony has a few cameras that can save onto a 1.44mb floppy disk or even to a 3" cd-r/rw disk. You just load the disk and it records each picture straight onto the media. You can then take it out and use it on your computer's floppy or cdrom drive to view them.
Zoom: Optical zoom is best, but digital zoom is better than no zoom at all. Optical zoom works like an expensive film camera's zoom lens. It zooms in on the subject optically and you take the picture. Digital zoom does not do this optically, but rather enlarges the picture, which can look very grainy and pixelated. Optical zoom is an expensive option.
Batteries: Bring plenty of disposable batteries if you're taking a lot of pics, especially when using the flash. Digital cameras eat batteries like Cheetos. I recommend getting some rechargable Ni-MH (nickel metal hydrid) batteries and a charger. Get enough batteries for two sets. For example: If your camera uses 4, get 8 and you'll always have a backup set in case you need them.
Click here for some Google.com results on digital cameras. Lot's of great links here.
I am thinking Sony Mavica 250 that takes the 3" cd's.
Camera $500
Includes 6 cd-r + 1 cd-rw free
Otherwise I can get the Sony Mavica 200 that does floppies or a
memory stick, but then I need accesories.
Camera $350
Card Reader $20
Plug in $20
Mem Stick (128MB) $70
I am really leaning to the Sony-250. Works out to about the
same price with less parts and such. Just seams easier.
What ya think ????

A digital camara would be good to have though if you plan to take a lot of photos that you want on you computer though
One thing to keep in mind is that Sony does not have the best track record in terms of reliabilty with consumer products, besides TVs (and that is even questionable to me since my Mom's Wega has a green tint to it)
