Box Building ?'s
WhiteRabbit or Mohawk, I know you know this stuff? Anyone else that does please comment as well! Thanks.
I've been building sub boxes for a long time now, but have always gone only by the internal volume. (Obviously not a pro) I've been reading a lot of your posts, and you refer to Q and alignment? Is there an EASY way to calculate Q for a box? To design a box to a specific Q? What about port tuning? I don't think I'd go with a ported box, but I'd still like to know about it. I was planning to go about 1.3 sealed cubes with the speaker inverted (Chrome Basket, HUGE magnet, gotta show that off). Now that I think about it, should I mount the speaker to the baffle, the screw it to the box, or mount the sub to the preconstructed and sealed box from the outside? Lots of Q's?
All you know and feel like typing would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the Q of a sealed enclosure is in direct relation to the driver that's in it..
Ex.. a JL audio 12W3D2 in a 1.2cubes has a Q of .797 Whereas in the same airspace an Adire Audio Shiva would have a Q in the 1. something....
As for port tuning..well that's universal..(not a factualy example).. say you have a 2 cu.ft enclosure with a 3" round by 5" port.. No matter what sub you put in there..the port tuning will be the exact same.. But with the Q of the woofer in that enclosure the sound output can be drastically different.. Download Win ISD..and play around..plot out like 10 different subs using a 2 ft. box tuned to 18hz and you'll see what I mean...the frequency responces with various subs will change drastically
