New HU and Harness ?
Ok, when you get the harness, the Metra, do the wires on it match the colors of the wires on the stock harness? I want to know because I'm planning on installing the harness to the HU first and then pulling the dash apart. Thanx.
hmm...im not exactly sure, but i think the metra would have a wiring chart that comes with the harness, and you could just compare that with the civic's wiring chart here. thats what i did, only i used the scosche harness.

The colors will not match on the stock harness and the Metra harness, but it really doesn't matter, it is a snap-in. I think what you were asking was if the Metra Harness colors will match the aftermarket HU. In that case, most manufaturers have gone to a standardized coloring of their wires. (ie ground is black, speaker wires are purple, green, white and grey) Don't count on it though and follow the charts of both the HU and the harness to match them up.
What I am saying is that is really doesn't matter. You only have to match the Metra Harness with the Aftermarket HU harness. The reason they make those harnesses is to prevent any cutting and to take the guess work out of figuring out what colors do what on the stock harness. I still don't understand why you need to match it up with the stock harness. The Metra Harness has the codes written on the wires and comes with a chart, as should the aftermarket HU.

I see where you are going. I understand. I wanted to know if it matched the cars harness because I have the wireing diagram for that. But, if the harness comes with it's own diagram then that's all I'll need. I'll use both the harness and the HU diagrams and match them up. Thanx for your help.
all aftermarket harnesses come color match. its a no brainer, just match the same colors on teh deck harness and the wire harness you bought. wont match teh stock E-system, and doesnt matter, cause metra did the work for you. its why installers can not care about wire colors in a stock car, cause its a crimp and go job.
