JVC HU

I have heard from a few people that they think the JVC units are not very good. I have the JVC SH-99 unit and it works quite well for me (other than you can not see it during the day but that will go for most HU). Can I ask why you think the JVC's arent very good considering they had good reviews on www.carreview.com. And what is a good HU that would compare to the SH-99. I was thinking of gettign one that has XM built directly in it (as I would like to get teh XM radio.

Well the JVC HU's aren't bad per se, But the sound quality and overall reliability of them as a whole isn;t too good. ALot of people have problem free units. But also alot of people have HU's that have spent 2 months in a repair shop before they get them back..only to find out the problem comes back 2 weeks later.

Yeah, my friend's JVC unit (same one I have) wouldnt eject the cd after a while. He took in apart and reconnect smoething and its working fine, but not sure if that will permantly fix it. I was looking at the Alpine CDA-7995, but its kinda expensive. Do you have a recommedation on one that is good and costs no more than 400 bucks?

And it does not have to be Alpine, I just hear they are pretty good units (if not the best).
