Capacitor Question
I just pulled the amp and capacitor out of my old car and I'm wondering it I'm going to need to charge the Capacitor (like it's the first time it's been installed) before I hook everything else up. Caps freak me out.. I've heard horror stories of them exploding cuz they weren't installed correctly.. anyone know?

Well it will charge when you hook up the power wire to it..but you'll get a nice spark.. Just use a test light as a resistor..charge it, then hook up the wire.
Yeah, charging my cap scared the ish outta me. I nearly crapped on myself when I saw that huge spark. Don't worry, just use gloves and pliers to charge it.
Steps:
1. connect cap to ground
2. place a small test light in between +12-volt wire and cap
3. wait like 10-30 seconds (I think the light will go out to indicate that the cap is fully charged-but I'm not 100% sure)
4. be very careful connecting +12 volt wire to cap. Don't punk out when it sparks.

well I did it, avoided a spark at the cap by connecting it before I conntected the power wire to the battery. There was a small spark at the battery (which I think is bad) but all in all it went well. Pics of my install will be up soon!
