question about voice coils??

ok i have a JL D4 w3 12 inch sub...i wired it using only one voice coil...is that a good thing? its been a year already since i did this and is too lazy to take out all the screws and rewire it so it uses both voice coils...i have burned out a sony amp, and a fosgate amp within a year....hahha......so before i get a new amp should i wire it so it uses both voice coils or is it ok just to keep it the way it is just using one voice coil..thank you sir

whaaaaa? only using one voice coil? im surprised youve gotten this far man... you have 2 voice coils at 4 ohms each.. you can wire it to either 2 or 8 ohms... what kinda amp are you using now, just so we can tell you how to wire this
