tweeters are too big

I was just given a pair of MBQuart CM2216CX. The tweeters are too big for the pod in my '02 coupe EX. Any advice on what to do. Maybe I should just install the 6.5" and leave the factory tweeters.

You can always file the hole to match your tweeter. Do a little DIY mod. Or you can keep the stock tweeter, up to you

I had that exact problem when I bought MB Quart speakers. I asked the shop if they can modify my tweeter pods but they said to just exchange it to the next line of speakers. I did just that and the tweeters fit perfectly in the pods. I have the QM 218.03 CX speakers. If you want to, you can sell your speakers and use that money to buy speakers that fit.

you could sell it to me i'm in so cal too... but if not i would just sand out the hole till it fits, either that or just get new tweeters. i dont even have pods so i'm going to have to drill a hole for the tweets.

I'm sure you can find someone w/o tweeter pods that will trade you their blank piece. Then use there blanks and mount your tweeter custom on that. Gives it a good look with the doors shut.. just my .02

Thanks for the suggestions. I installed the 6.5's and left the factory tweeters in there. I think I'm gonna buy new components that fit when I start getting my discount at Circuit City. Those 6.5's were a pain to install. It took me more then half the day to install them. I bought 1" spacers but the speaker wouldn't even fit through them so I had to get some MDF and cut my own spacers. Does anyone have a suggestion on a component from Circuit City to replace the MBQuarts with. Will the 5.25" Alpines fit? When I was in the store I think the only ones I saw with tweeters small enough to fit the tweeter pod were the Infinity's.

ctducs- I have rockford components that are an oversized 6 1/2, actually it's a 6 3/4, take your 1" spacer and a dremel and grind about 1/4" at a 45 degree angle. This should give the speaker basket enough clearance. I would also recommend that you use some type of sound deadening material as well...Good Luck

With minimal fialing or the use of a dremmel tool the larger tweeter's fit perfectly and can actually make those ugly pods look better. It would be more preferable to have them closer to the speaker if you have the blank pods and are good at cutting your door to mount the tweeter to get better optimum sound. Anything can be done to a Honda!

I've got the MB Quart PSD 216, the tweeters fit in the factory pod, you just have to get a long enough screw and washers to make it fit tightly, it'll be slightly oversized but it's better than buying something else
