Kicker Solo baric S15L7

I have a prob. Don't know anything about I.C.E. so I'm asking your advice.

I want to have 2 kicker solo baric L7 15" subs in my trunk. I know that kicker makes a 2ohm and 4 ohm version of the same sub.

1. What's the diff. between 2 ohms and 4ohms?
2. Depending on if the 2 ohm version is better or the 4, how powerful would the amp have to be?
(Both versions have the following: )
RMS Power [watts] 1,000
Peak Power [watts] 2,000
3. Can anyone suggest an amp?

I did some calculations and ended up thinking that the Kenwood Excelon KAC-X520 would do the trick, if I had 2 amps per sub. My reasoning was that since the subs range from 1,000-2,000 watts, I would need an amp or amps that would also peak at 2,000 watts. Now according to Crutchfield magazine, the Kenwood amp has the following features:
RMS Power at 4 ohms [watts x channels @ input voltage] 125x2@14.4V
Bridged RMS Power [watts] 500x1
Peak Power @ 4 ohms [watts] 500x2
RMS @ 2 ohms [watts] 250x2
I figured that if I had 2 kicker 15"subs in the 4 ohms version and 4 Excelon amps, 2 amps per sub, that the power should be substantial. I based this on the fact that the amps peak power with 4 ohms is 500x2 or in other words 1000 watts. So if I had 2 amps per sub, hen that woul be 2,000 watts per sub. And as I stated earlier, the subs peak at 2,000 watts.

Again, i dn't know much about I.C.E. but I did try to figure this out on my own. Now that have a theory about what might be right, I'm asking you to check my math and maybe give me some pointers.

Thanks for all of your time spent reading and answering my questions.

they come in Dual 2ohm and Dual 4ohm... RUnning that kind of power with that many amps..you'd need to upgrade your electrical system....a great amp combo for this I'd say would be a pair of Dual 4ohm S15L7's and a Viper 2400D amp [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]

-alright i dont know as much as mohawk but i do know some stuff... n yes he's right, why would you want to get 4 amps??? make it easy and just get 1 class D amp. a class D amp will draw less power from the battery compared to a a/b amp.
-as for the ohms, it depends on the amp your getting. some amps are 1 ohm stable and many others are only 2 ohm stable.
you want to wire the subs so that you create the smallest ohm the amp is stable at... for example if you have a 1 ohm stable amp you want to wire the subs so that you get 1 ohms...
-lets take just 1 15" L7 hooked up to a amp thats 1000 x 1 wrms at 1 ohm, 500 x 1 at 2 ohm, and 250 x 1 at 4 ohm. since you only have 1 L7, you would want the 2 ohm version cause if you wire the subs in parallel to get a 1 ohm load(if you wire it in series, you get a 4 ohm load). if you get the 4 ohm version the most power your going to get from the amp is only 500 x 1. with the 2 ohm version you get 1000.
-oh and you mainly want to look at the RMS and not peak.
