'02 LX speaker sizes? (Repost from General Section)

Searched and found this for the EX:

Front 6.5
Back 6x9

True for LX, too?

And finally, any recommendations? I'm looking to spend under $100 for each pair.
I need something that will be able to handle subs....and high volume.

Do you know if it is the same for 2001 Civics as well?

6.5 for sedans? or is it 5-1/4?

thanks!

it's the same for ALL 7th gen civics.... 5 1/4" will fit in front no problem.. 7" will fit the rear no problem. for sedans.

For coupes.. 5.25's can fit the fronts

ok, i'm a little bit confused, so if i want to replace my rear speakers on my 2001 sedan (left one is blown in fact, or semi-blown),
then i should get 7"s? or stick with 5-1/4 for that too? I did look at them and they look like 5-1/4, 5 1/2s. The 6.5 seemed reasonalbe.
Just curious what the stock size is. I can't believe that no website or not even the owners manual lists this information. Thanks!

slim6294, you should get the size you already have in your car. which would be 6.5s all around. he is just saying that you could get 7" or 5 1/4 if you wanted to.

as for recommendations... maybe like the top of the line pioneer 3ways. well atleast thats good enough for me... but then my friend just got mbquartz and those things sound nice so i'm kinda thinking of spending more and getting those.

btw, since you said you wanted them to handle alot, i'm guessing your going to run them with an amp, whats your budget for that?

already got one off ebay, its decent, 800W 2-chan, way more than I need.
a friend of mine just showed me a decent deal on some subs, so i think i'll get that
and we're hooking in the stuff next week along w/ my pioneer headunit.
might still get some new speakers for the rear in the future...

The rear hole cutoutrs match the sizing for a European 6 3/4" Speaker.. some 6.5's don;t fit properly in the rear.. a 5.25 might fit right through the hole... for the front ither 5.25's or 6.5's can be used

Cheap tweeters.. cheap tweeters are not good.. THey are generally VERY harsh sounding, and have crappy crossovers.. They tend to break up and distort quite noticably... if you want a god inexpensive tweet..look into Vifa

Why get tweeters though...why not save up a wee bit and get component speakers?? for $130 at sounddomain.com you can get a very nice set of Crystal Mobilesound components.

Those severely lack anything resembling midbass though...

you want speakers that sound good right. so when you get your new speakes and you go cheap and you turn them up and blow them and get confussed just turn around and kick yourself. take the time now to do your system once and do it right. you'll spend so much more money on cheap stuff cause you'll be buying something new in a few months. a good set of of 6.5's up front with anywhere from 50-100 watts should be fine and don't even bother with the rears just unplug them. its well worth it and then you only have to tear apart your car once. and don't forget the first time you do your car prewire it for everything you ever plan on doing cause the more your tear it apart the more chances to mess stuff up. wire's are generally cheap so get them all there.

Whats exactly are components anyway? Pros/Cons over the alternatives?

Components are a woofer, a crossover network and a tweeter. in general. The woofer is sealed..has no attached tweeter. The set somes with a Low pass crossover for the woofer and a highpass for the tweeter. Component sets generally offer better midrage sound..more midbass. Cleaner high frequency sound. There's some cheap components that are junk..and there are some co-xials that are great..but Component speaker systems give you more options for tweeter mounting locations adn the like.

So I've got a 01 LX coupe, stock everything, but with a RF 250.2 bridged powering a 12" Infinity perfect. I happen to be running off an older Panasonic HU, CQ-DF44... no Sub-out or anything, its pretty basic. 40w x 4 listed as the output.

What would you recommend for crisper, louder, music? As it is, the sub is pretty clean, but the stock speakers peak out at fairly low volume.
