sunlight on speakers bad over time?

i jus installed PIONEER 6x9 4-ways in the back of my coupe, which dont fit right but sounds great. the magnet is huge and touches the trunk rods, so i had to mount them at an angle. looks horrible when you take off the rear deck. but anyways, they are brand new speakers and i DO NOT have tint on my rear windows. and my car doesnt get shade alot of times. so im wondering if the sun shining on the 6x9s will damage the material in any way over time? thanx

yes, eventually they will dry rot/crack, try to cover your rear deck speakers if they will be in the sun for a long period of time

they will be fine. the stock paper cones may go to shiat but the surrounds on those will last. i had 4 6X9's in the back of my jeep woth no covers and direct (top off) sunlight and they fired up without any problems. heck i had them in when we wen mudding and they where full of dirt sometimes water and they always played

most factory speakers last for anywhere between 5-10 years, depending on the listener, sometimes longer. and thats with a cheap paper-thin foam surround. im sure your pioneers have something better, if not rubber, then maybe some kind of fabric or something, i had an older set of pioneer two ways, and the surround looked and felt like a type of fabric. but at any rate, id expect a good 6 or so years out of them, but by then im sure kyoull have either already upgraded, or sold the car and left them in

maybe my speakers where cheap, they were blowpunkt <-- I cant spell but they cracked and dryroted in only 1 1/2 years sitting in the rear deck of my prelude, i would rather be safe then sorry, but alot depends on what the speaker is made out of, and where you live
Just my 2 cents though
