i searched.....
and didn't find the answer to my question, which is how can i get the HU to fit flush in the dash? i read that there is a kit from Best Buy, but what exactly does it do? doesn't the HU come with its own kit to fit in the dash? i got the pioneer DEH Premier 840 MP.......and i want the deck to not "sink" in the dash like mine does now......if anyone can help, thanks
the kit is pretty much a piece that goes around your HU, which I assume is standard DIN (oh and that's a nice HU, BTW, how about you give it to me when you're tired of it
) and allows it to fit into the odd shape of the stock HU. for my HU (kenwood KDC-MPV619) I used the scosche dash kit and wiring harness (scosche kit is crap, I had to sand the edge to get it to fit) and I used the stock mounting bracket also. I had to drill 2 new holes to put screws in them, though.

Don't get the Scosche! Get the American International. It's the best one out there. I've seen all of them and I have the Metra. The Metra is allright, but still... The American International is superior. Nice HU! I would have gotten that one, but it cost a little too much for my taste.

Yeah, there's one more. Best Buy has it in their installation department. You can also get a kit off of Ebay with the wiring harness. Good deal. Better than the Metra and a better deal than what I paid. Oh well... Maybe I'll switch later?
yup prolly i'll switch later, it will take a long time but i'll switch,
after spending $$$ on my HU (Kenwood MPV619), not that
expensive but I have to save some for a good component speaker.

i got mine installed at best buys.. i hate that kit they used.. yeah it was flush.. but i didnt get to keep my pocket lid.. and the thing was just jreally clips!!.. i mean the headunit cliped into a cage.. which was clipped into the install kit thingy.. it wasnt actualyl clipped but its like lil metal peices u bend..
i really felt unsafe having it like that.. someone could just walk buy and rip it out.. so i took it all out n scrwed the headunit itself the to stock bracket thingy.. so i keep my pocket/lid,,, and the headunit sits nice n secure.. even though theres that lil space around the headunit.. id rather trade that for more security
this mite not be the same kit u guyz talkin about.. but just thought id share.. hehe

mine actually sits pretty good....it has to stick out a lil bit cuz of the dual face that flips down so the screen shows.....but it looks tight. it would look even better if our dash didn't tilt upwards at an angle. I like it, and it sounds really good, and looks even better. I haven't driven it at nite yet, so i don't know what it looks like all lit up, but im sure it looks sweet.........well worth the money i spent on it. great sound quality.

You don't get to keep the pocket with the door because of the way your dash is shaped, use the kit, all cars the use dash kits mount the cage to the kit and the kit to the dash. If you want it more flush, use the stock bracket and the iso mount brackets and line it up properly.
